Re: Even More Data 3.46

I'll continue testing when new hardware run is available shortly. Right now, probably troubleshooting 1st run hardware unecessarily.

I'll be ready when it arrives.

Re: Even More Data 3.46

I unplugged IAC completely and shut it off in TS.

The intermittent hard starts continued. Sometimes perfect, sometimes a real problem with backfires. Sometimes would start, but won't stay idle. Other times fire right up.

So, I suspected the bad ignition signals again. Seemed unlikely, but hooked ...

Re: Even More Data 3.46

Actually, I think that what's going on here, is erratic IAC behavior from the cranking voltage.

I was kind of driving myself crazy continually adjusting the idle stop screw after warmup when IAC should have been all the way closed. Then, I found that the IAC was not in a consistent behavior. I ...

Re: Even More Data 3.46

I'm pretty sure it was IAC settings. Needed a bit more throttle during cranking. I'm always surprised how subtle changes can make dramatic differences.

Things looking real good.

Re: Even More Data 3.46

I put a 10k resistor inline. The tach drops went away, and it revs right through that point now.

BUT... I seem to have intermittent hard starts. the cranks sensor VR voltage during cranking is +2v / -2v peak to peak. Would the resistor have dropped this? I think it was 3v peak to peak before the ...

Re: Adjustable Tach Output Signal?

Bingo-

3.47 set to fixed pw on tach output works on the BMW, but not Pontiac with Autometer tach. When it's set to duty cycle, it works on Pontiac with Autometer tach, but not BMW.

Nice fix.

Re: Adjustable Tach Output Signal?

Al-

In an earlier post, Bruce had posted that the original beta tach output was 150 micro seconds.

The new code looks like the input is in milliseconds (ms)? I just want to confirm, that to program so that 3.47 outputs the like the original settings, I would set it to: TachOut Fixed = 0.15 and ...

Re: Even More Data 3.46

I though this engine was running fine last year, what has changed ? I know the code changed, but do you have the same code in both cars ? If one idles fine and the other misses teeth, it is likely in the hardware end.

last year, got it running on sequencer with original beta code, but never got ...

Re: Even More Data 3.46

i turned on ABG filter to default settings, and bumped next pulse tolerance to 30%.

it is not having any tach dropouts anymore, but trigger +/- climbs when rpms pick up. even when just sitting steady at 2300 revs, tach +/- steadily climbs. no more tach -, it only climbs. AFR stays okay while it's ...

Re: Even More Data 3.46

seq is running well on this car, although I found that it is having tach drop outs. so far, it's only happening when there is a sudden rpm changes. this motor winds up super fast while just idling and little stabs at the pedal. i think i'm close with the accel enrichments, but when tach drops out ...
