well that thing only corrects the signal to use it with a tac if yours doesn't work i know the MS II has that built into it.i dunno if you're triying to control your spark but or just correct for a tac What you triying to do anyways??

When you talk about btdc or atdc you talking about advance. That means +20 BTDC the spark is bein produced 20 crankshaft degrees before the piston reaches top dead center so the piston is on it's way upp when the fuel is ignited. i don't think it should be a problem having them vertically,most of the vehicles do anyways. using that setupp u just mentioned will i stoll be able to control my timing ; also i built the MSII with the gm 7 pin in mind so i'm using the jumpers for a hall setupp
