Installed VB921 inside VW 3-pin module today. Seems to work fine after a short testdrive. Also as SuperCab mentioned, you can bypass the negative side and use it (ex. if you have VB:s on the MS board). I have a MS-I with v2.2 PCB and replaced R25 with 330ohm and jumpered it to the X12 output that is ...

Of course, a dumb question ;). Anyway, do you (or anyone) remember a setup for a scope to measure the inductance of a coil? This way I could calculate the estimate...

Thanks, jsmcortina!

I just swap the R25 to a 330ohm resistor and jumper it to the X12 output. That should do it.

What kind of dwell and discharge times the VB921 can handle? Any other changes than inverting the output?

The 1k is from this picture, but seems to be irrelevant to this setup:

http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/igbt_pullup.gif

So, about this schematic (extra):

http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/pix/vb921-driver-extras.gif

So, I took off the wrong 1k res. and fitted a 330ohm like the extra ...

VB921 on V2.2

I kind of asked this already on another topic in another forum here, but I'm not sure if people will find it there ;). So I apologize for "multiposting" this...

The idea is to put a VB921 driver inside a broken ignitionmodule that is bolted on the coil. That way I can connect the coil and amp as ...

This is probably the same kind of amp that I'm having problems with. I use the dwell control, but at some point the ignition starts to misfire. My dwell is set to pretty low 3.0ms, so it should not heat the amp too much... Invert is set to "no". The engine runs perfectly, but after about 30min the ...

More debugging today and it seems that the problem is ignition related. The injector signal is ok, but still the other bank is dead (weak signal).

Also the ignition signal shows no missing spikes, etc... But the timing light goes off when hickup occures. So, next I wil go and get a new ignitionamp ...

I'm continuing my monologue ;). I was a happy bunny today and drove a nice 30min without any hick-ups. I didn´t take a longer trip because the car is not inspected and I did´t want a ticket for it ;).

Anyway, things got worse and the damn coughing got back again. The most weird thing is that you ...

Weird things happened again. I now have a new injector that is smaller and has 7.2ms of req_fuel. Idle pw is about 1.6-1.7ms. I tried to drive with the new inj, but the same weird coughiness occured at idle and cruise when the engine got hot.

So, because I use only one injector output I decided to ...

Thanks, Lance!

I tried to set the injector today and also increased the req_fuel value. It runned ok with 65% and 0.7ms. But still after a couple of short test drives the engine started to cough again.

I will buy a new injector tomorrow to see if it's the part that is causing me trouble. It can't ...
