Re: how to trigger MS on a small 25cc engine?

there are what looks like 2 sets of magnets close to each other on the flywheel.

If I remember correctly there are only 2 wires from the coil. I will check for sure when I get back to school.
1) the spark plug wire going to the spark plug
2) the ground wire which goes to a 2 position, normally open ...

Re: how to trigger MS on a small 25cc engine?

So I should use an oscilloscope on the switched ground wire to test for a sine wave and what the voltage is? I should expect the voltage increases with engine rotational velocity correct?

This coil is not linked to a cam. It is just bolted right above the flywheel which has magnets mounted in it.

how to trigger MS on a small 25cc engine?

I am working on a project at engineering school where we are converting a small 25cc 4 stroke engine to run on gas phase propane. I am using MicroSquirt to meter the fuel while maintaining the original ignition system on the engine for simplicity. The MS is all wired and I synced it with the laptop ...

noob w/ project Porsche944 w/lt1 V8

Well I did it. I ordered MSII on Sunday and it should arrive on my door step this week. I will then get my soldering gun a blazen and go to town. It's funny.... I stopped at the ford dealership and asked to get a quote on a EDIS8 ignition system and all 6 guys behind the counter were like "huh ...

I am a newbie at this but I think mega Squirt is not capable of COP as of yet. This may be the next best thing I think, but I wanted some input from the veterans.

Are you building a LT1 as well?

What about removing the Optispark and running the ford EDIS ignition system with the 36-1 wheel mounted on the inside of the crank pully? That would eliminate the PITA Opti which seems to cause alot of head aches.

The ignition pickup is an area of concern for me as well. I wish I could completely control ignition using the MS and drive one coil per cylinder. I also wonder about the single O2 sensor on the MS verses the original computer which has 2 and how good the original computer is compared to the MS.

I ...

noob w/ project Porsche944 w/lt1 V8

Hello everybody,
This my first post here. I got my first taste of MegaSquirt when I got a ride in a 95 ford mustang cobra with a turbo. He was running the mega squirt stand alone. I am currently working on a project Porsche 944S which had an engine fire and toasted the wiring harness and all the ...
