I think that the confusion is caused by the way PWM fidle valves work. The high side of the valve is connected to 12 volts, the low side to the collector of the filde transistor. even or odd fire??
The only 4 cylinder motors that I am aware of that are odd fire are V4.
So if you have a boxer or an in line you have an even fire motor.

I have something called an Ioncepts, that I got from Comp USA.
I has worked fine for everything that I have tried, Windows and Linux.
