Re: Doubled-up Sparks

Now with resistor plugs and new Bosch Super Sport inductive leads, good sparks cranking with no fuel but timing goes erratic when engine is actually trying to fire with fuel on. Need to order some bearings for the starter before going any further - this is a weak point of these motors, unfortunately ...

Re: Doubled-up Sparks

Hi Mr Grippo - looks like i'm being a bit of a pain! But I have just come back in from the Lavertory and have established the following:

1. Plugs in, fires both plugs at every tach event
2. Plugs out, grounded at base of barrels, correct firing
3. Spare set of plugs put in plug holes, originals ...

Re: Doubled-up Sparks

Thanks for getting in touch. Yep, no mystery about the spit-backs! Have already had to rebuild the starter, that was last week, it is making noises like I probably need to do it again this weekend ... Will be testing with no fuel until I get this ignition issue sorted!

Cranking rpm with and without ...

Doubled-up Sparks

From previous enquiries, most issues are now sorted with "V-twin" dual inputs from 1 cam tooth setup, V3.78 code, firing two LS2 coils. That is, I now have fuel and engine tries to start. But it keeps spitting back when it seems it might start.

Full investigations show that cranking with plugs out ...

Re: Dual Hall Input Problem Fixed, but No Fuel

Great improvement, it is now trying to start, probably need to persevere with cranking parameters to get it to run. Headers are getting warm and it can string together a few cycles, so hopefully nearly there.

Many thanks!

Re: Dual Hall Input Problem Fixed, but No Fuel

Many thanks for looking into this. I'll try this out tonight and see how I get on. So amongst other things, I'll be using the Dual inputs, single tooth cam wheel option, and under the trigger wheel setup I'll have both trigger and cam wheel teeth set to 0 for no missing tooth wheels, will be ...

Re: Dual Hall Input Problem

Much progress has now been made, including an excursion to MSExtra to try Twin Trigger mode (which will only work in wasted spark mode, it seems, but at least I could prove injectors, etc. are working). Have done a lot of cable screening, clean earths, etc. and returned to B&G V3.780. I now have ...

Independent Dual with Cam Sensors

Just wondering if anyone has the setup 1(b) in the docs (single tooth cam wheel and two offset sensors) working in practice? I am having problems with this, with the latest version code, and am wondering if it is me or the code.
Thanks
Nick

Re: Dual Hall Input Problem

I now believe that what I really have is a slow cranking problem. I have connected the sensors to the VR inputs and when cranking with the plugs out the sparks are happening at the right time (at TDC) on both cylinders. But with the plugs in, the motor limps over at a very irregular and pathetic ...

Re: Dual Hall Input Problem

Thanks for the swift response. I am using the setup option that you describe. I have tried using the VR1+ input for Hall 1, since VR2 seems to work fine, but it appeared to be giving intermittent and multiple sparks in time with both cylinders and possibly at other times as well, and no fuel was ...
