Re: 84 GPZ1100 dual spark / wasted spark 2 tach

I have not found any timing settings that allow the bike to fire and start. My native specs are 17 deg BTDC at under 1500 RPM, not the 24 the OP had, I've tried 17, -17, 0, and -343 (360-17) for both the basic ignition setting as well as the dual spark setting. The best I've gotten are a couple of ...

Is that wire also connected to Battery negative? If not then it won't work. Sorry if you know this already.

Re: 84 GPZ1100 dual spark / wasted spark 2 tach

from what I understand, if your are running dual spark mode, your trigger offset needs to be a negative number.
instead of 24 degrees try (-360 + 24) = -336degres.

adjust cranking pulse tolerance up to 75% or higher to see if you get a steady cranking rpm.

Re: How to set Advance for #2?

this will depend on your sensor arrangement.
If you have 2 sensors 180* apart, it will probably be set to 0*

trigger offset will set your overall timing in relation to your #1 pickup and trigger offset. If your second sensor is physically offset the right amount, the offset #2 will be 0

basically ...

Re: Triggering finally sorted, Thanks to everybody!

I finally got this going. The solution took a lot of thought and trial/error experimenting. Here is what I did.
This bike has external cam belts, and the main pulley had 2 tapped holes. I bolted on a piece of thick feeler gauge cut down to form a single tooth, and fit a hall sensor to sense it.

I ...

Re: Triggering finally sorted, Thanks to everybody!

Couldnt see any problems with metal shavings, but I didn't look very hard.. VR sensors are gone for good. I was trying to figure out a way to fit some hall sensors on a cam wheel, but didnt see any of factory FI stuff for a reasonable price, Im reading about salvaging encoders from serial ball mice ...

Re: Triggering finally sorted, Thanks to everybody!

ok my microsquirt has a sick sense of humor. I dont know what has changed now, but I am unable to get a usuable rpm under any condition now..
i am giving up on vr sensors on this thing. the factory fuel injected models had a hall sensor on the cam, so im going to try and find those pieces somewhere ...

Triggering finally sorted, Thanks to everybody!

I hope!

I've been struggling to get a reliable cranking rpm signal on my ducati 90 degree twin.
At first my problem was rpms that jumped from 0 to 50,000 and anywhere in between.
messing with cranking pulse tolerance seemed to help a little, like the first crank after burning and cycling power ...

Re: Engine crank for about 7 seconds before injection

under base ignition settings, what is skip pulses set to?
if it is set too high, it will take a while to start. just a guess.

microsquirt and ls2 coils

im looking at the picture on http://www.megamanual.com/seq/ for ls2 coils, and i have a question
Pin B (Signal ground at sequencer).... Is this the sensor ground that my tps, map, temp sensors use?

also, is it acceptable to combine the signal ground wires for 2 coils, into a single wire back to the ...
