How does Microsquirt know it's "cranking" or "running?"
Backstory: (copied from my other post) I'm trying to do fuel only on a single, fat tooth setup (I know) using the stock CDI system for ignition. The tooth is only about 28 mm long, so it's not crazy long. This is on a KTM 525 engine, and there are not a lot of attractive options for a ...

Re: RPMs SOMETIMES read half...?
Here is my MSQ file. I have only been testing to see if I can get a tach signal to work, so lots of other things are probably quite messed up.
In addition, here is the log file from earlier when it was reading double. Interestingly, after looking at the log ...

RPMs SOMETIMES read half...?
I'm trying to do fuel only on a single, fat tooth setup (I know) using the stock CDI system for ignition. The tooth is only about 28 mm long, so it's not crazy long. This is on a KTM 525 engine, and there are not a lot of attractive options for a trigger wheel, and to be 100% honest, I ...

Tachref sees nothing, but TunerStudio sees RPM?
So I finally got an 18-1 tooth trigger wheel installed for my project and a VR sensor off a Yamaha YFZ450. (Bench test setup, simply cases, a crank to spin by hand, the trigger wheel, and a VR sensor) I fought with it for a while Monday night, but was unable to get a signal to show up in ...

Re: Which tooth to remove?
Thanks for the reply! I'm not sure what the cranking RPM is, but with the idle being set at around 1800, I doubt it's anywhere near 50!
I was really shocked by the 50° as well for the YFZ, but that's what I saw on the Dynatek website for their CDI. I think they claimed the stock map was ...

Which tooth to remove?
I race ATVs in the Grand National Cross Country series. These are single-cylinder 4 stroke engines, and we do dead-engine starts, where the flag is thrown, you start your quad and take off for the first corner. To get there quickly, I’m running a second battery on the way to the starter ...
