Re: Ford 4-cyl dual spark setup

Thanks Al.

So for a Ford wasted spark 4cyl with the factory trigger setup of crank sensor at 90deg BTDC is -90 for trigger offset and delay teeth of 9 right then? Having read the documentation quite a number of times I'm still not clear on it.

If there is new documentation coming through from ...

Ford 4-cyl dual spark setup

I'm sure this should be a FAQ but searching hasn't yielded an answer for me.

In a standard Ford 4-cyl trigger wheel setup (wasted spark, 36-1 crank wheel, missing tooth at 90deg BTDC) what should the ignition settings be? My understanding is:

Trigger-offset = -90 (to account for the 90deg BTDC ...

Spec for EDIS vr sensor to wheel distance

Cripes, you want it a lot closer than that. A constant distance throughout
the revolution is more important than absolute distances but somewhere in
the 0.5-1.5mm is what you should be looking at ...

You say the turbo is bigger than a T70, well there aren't many turbos bigger than a T70 and if you don't have any provenance for it then assume that it's a truck turbo, in which case it's designed for high boost, rather high flow and efficiency

how to convert emerald map to megasquirt??

I've done exactly that in the past. Emerald uses a 16x16 table and it's
pretty easy if you use your head to translate the basics into the MS ...

I suspect you'll find that the efficiency of the chargecooler improves
substantially when you really start pushing it. As it stands the temperature ...

They also couldn't care less about what happens below about 10000rpm
which helps a bit!

Quit worrying and wade on in. You'll never end up with a system that isn ...

Cranking pulsewidths are utterly irrelevant really all you need is enough
fuel for it to catch but not so much that it floods. Because the charge
velocity will be low it's best to just chuck lots in to make it easy for
it ...
