Re: How does Microsquirt know it's "cranking" or "running?"

Does your CDI have a tacho output that you can use to trigger the Micro?
That's what I used to do on my bike when running fuel only.

FlexFuel on Beta units?

Is flex fuel available on pin6 on the beta units?

I had to hardware mod the Beta unit so that Knock was available.
Do I need to do the same thing for FlexFuel, or was it available already?

Re: Reset/Lock when serial is connected

For the record, this seems to be fixed by tying the bootloader wire to TPS VREF as suggested by James on the msextra forums.

Re: Version 1 or 2? Knock sensor

Looking at the V2 schematic, it looks like I just need a 1k resistor in series, and a 0.01uF capacitor in parallel, then out to pin 5.

That sounds do-able to me?

Re: Version 1 or 2?

Ok, I have the red board and it says 0.9, so I guess that's because it's one of the beta units.

Next question - is there any way I can modify this hardware so that pin5 is connected, or is it too fiddly?

Re: Version 1 or 2?

It's a metal case, but my understanding is that both V1 and V2 had that same case.
Not sure what colour the board is. Will the board have the version printed?
I looked at the manual, but it doesn't seem to help.

I'm planning on using the knocksense unit if my Microsquirt can use it.

Version 1 or 2? Knock sensor

Is there an easy way to tell which version of Microsquirt I have?
I wanted to hook up a knock sensor, but I have a feeling I might have version 1 (beta) which won't have pin 5 connected.

Re: Microsquirt driving MD 6A

Thanks Matt.
So I definitely should be set to "going high (inverted)" when triggering an MSD from a Microsquirt that has the VB921's built in?

Re: Reset/Lock when serial is connected

Laptop has been running on battery lately, but I've had my old one on AC power (both saw this issue).

I've now put a stereo noise filter on the 12V line as well, so I'll see how that goes.
I think krisr is going to bring his scope over, so we can scope vref and 12v. I have a scope that I left at my ...

Microsquirt driving MD 6A

I notice in the sticky here, Bruce mentions to set the Output to "going high" when driving coils directly from the Micro.
Is this the same when driving a MSD box?

At the moment, I have it set to "going low" and the MSD is triggering. If I set it to "going high" it doesn't seem to work, so I'm a bit ...
