Microsquirt on a 6V system

Hello!

I've got a mate who's thinking about converting his old 'Condor' single-pot 350 to efi. It's a 6V system and we want to keep the old dear fairly original looking.

Will a microsquirt (or megasquirt) run OK from 6V?

It'd be a ripper little machine with decent fueling since the carby is worn ...

Sounds like a plan! Although, at the rate I am modifying my MS box, it might take a bit of tweaking....

I find repairing SMT stuff is often easier and quicker than through hole ... But you need good eyesight or a magnifier. Also, some of the codes and such on SM stuff are a bit cryptic, and therefore painful to work with. But anything SMT I have built looks shoddy compared with the same thing built by ...

Automatic transmission idle problems...

Hello!

I am running 2.3x firmware on my ms2... My problem is : when you put the car into gear (especially reverse) the motor wants to stop - unless you put in HEAPS of idle air (pwm type) ; then the thing wants to idle very high. The car is a 250ci 6cyl with a 'small' cam, ported head and ...

Is it normal??

Hello!

I have finally made a half decent fuel and ignition map (MS2 v3.0) for my 6cylinder Falcon and I find the car drives just fine without ANY accel enrichment at all! Have others found this to be the case too? I am very much impressed, anyway.

That setup in the photo looks good - I would try and keep a small distance between the msd and ms cables. For example, I have seen a car with a conventional reluctor dissy misfire and carry on because the wires from the reluctor in the dissy were routed next to the ignition coil leads - the ignition ...

Maybe try it and see, but I would not like to see msd wiring and ms signal wiring right next to each other, for example in the same harness. A distance of, say, 10cm is probably enough (and achieveable in a cramped engine bay).

Everything related to an input to the MS should probably be shielded eg. tps, ect, iat, O2 (especially) and crank signals. Keep the MSD box and its wiring away from things. Try experimenting, maybe look at the signals on an oscilloscope and see what noise is there.

'Bin' in this case means throw away. Getting the tuning right can be hard sometimes but everyone around here will help you if they can.
