I am currently looking for an aftermarket coil. The specs are given for many coils and I have put their values into your calculator. I am getting large dwell times (4-6ms) for many aftermarket coils. Running a six cylinder at 7000rpm doesn't allow for such long dwell periods. What is recommended as ...

sounds like your vb921 is fried...... swap itout with a new one and you'll have the problem licked. Look at my post (Direct Coil Control) and maybe you can get some help from the people who looked there.

Bad coil driver

it seems as though I ruined the coil driver in my MSII v3 board. I have been having ignition issues for quite a while and they had been getting bad enough to make the car undrivable. The problem showed itself as cutting out of spark above 3000rpm at random times. Soon, it happened above 2500rpm ...

lance,
Thanks for the great replies. I have double checked the timing with a light and it seems to be dead on. To make it easier, I changed all of the values to 15 so that it would remain constant (easier to see fluctuations) and it stayed within a degree or two. The thing is, I can only check that ...

ignition breakup

I had this post in the MSII section and didn't get much responce, so I'll try here since this is an ignition board and all....

MSII v3 board, with v2.3 code

I am using the ignition driver circuit to directly run my coil. My question is if this has enough current capacity for a hot spark. I have ...

Thanks to whomever moved this post to a section where it would get some more traffic. This post sat for a few days in the MSII forum with no hits. Here's what I am running:

'83 nissan 2.8l turbo
optical distributor
MSII v3 board, v2.3firmware

The only tests that I did involved slow changes in rpm ...

So, it seems as though this post is a lame duck. I'll answer my own question, at least for what I wanted to know. I stuck a timing light on the car and ran it up through the rpm. To make it easy, I set all entries in the table to 10 degrees advance. All the settings seemed to work pretty well ...

predictor algorithms

What is the difference between the ignition predictor algorithms? I couldn't really see much info on the advantages of each. Trying to diagnos a stumble at high rpm, I switched from 'last interval' to 'first derivative, second derivative'. When I made the switch, the engine has detonation problems ...

That is exactly it... 12:1 afr is really rich for only 50% throttle. Too much fuel doesn't give more power.
