I run the Jeep 4.0 IAC and once in a while I will get a "hiccup" in the idle speed after a warm restart (high idle), but the vast majority of the time it works fine.

I don't have the same setup, but on mine the timing gets jumpy if I am not using the Last Algorithum (sp?) predictor.

There are some stickies on this subject in the ignition section of the forum.

The manual basically says to lower it until you get some misfires then raise it 0.2 ms, so if it starts to misfire at 2.5 then run it at 2.7.

Also, IIRC, I thought I read something in the manual about using the wong ...

Mine seems to work okay. I get a slightly higher idle after warm startup vs. after a cold start and I let the engine warm up without any restarts.

Make sure you have it wired correctly. Not to long ago a typo was corrected in the manual.

To add to the above, I think the shield you are asking about is just a metal "wrap" around a wire to help reduce noise in the signal that wire is carrying. On a VR sensor it is a good idea to use a twisted shielded pair for the wiring. The twist helps reduce the noise the two wires might cause to ...

Thanks woh. I think I forgot all about that part of the assembly because I am using the fuel pump relay to make sure I don't burn up the coil.
