Emission failure MSI-1V2.2(solved)

Post by AAFA »

Hello Everybody,
here is the problem with the old Roadrunner.
Retard timing lean out idle VE by two clicks in the four corners for idle.
What happens is that around 185 195 CLT and 145- 155 on AIT the Car will back fire through the TB
and the stupid test driver says we cannot test it if it pops through the TB.
It runs ok at these settings when coolant around 165 -180 and AIT around 125.
If I advance the timming the Poping stops and of course she will run cooler also.
I only retard timing around 5-8 degrees
Any ideas?
Will try and get a log Monday.

MS-1 V2.2.

Maybe I should return to regular tune up and see how bad it fails :(

Ok the base setup passes 448 ppm hc on 450 ppm hc
man thats close :)

I highly advise this. I don't know what state you're in, but this is definitely how I'd do it in WA. Second test is free and it will give you a base line.

Of course, it would be a lot easier to find someone with an EGA you could borrow for a second....
