shows voltage but no power

Post by substock »

hello, i have finally completed wiring in my ms2 with version 3.0 board. i have been working very slowly on this as to not mess anything up. what i'm running this on is a 1989 Chrysler Conquest that i did a complete multi port swap on with a hall effect distributor. before i plugged the megasquirt in, i turn the ignition on and checked the voltage to all of the injectors, distributor plug, and got the required +12v from them. i checked the connector to make sure it was receiving power and it was in accordance to everything else. so i then plugged the ecu in and checked the tps connector and got the +5v there. now is where i can't figure it out, i went and connected the ecu to my laptop to check for the siganl from my distributor, it wouldn't connect. so i rechecked it, and plugged it back in again. everything is getting voltage, but for some reason the ecu won't turn on when the key is on. i checked the leds and nothing flashed to say it was on.

and so you know i do have a stim, and the last time i checked the ecu with it, it worked perfect. i need to go out and get a new battery for it, and i'm going to recheck it later.

I reckon you are missing a ground in your new wiring harness - use an ohmmeter and check every ground wire for continuity. Good luck - it will happen and it is well worth the effort!

substock,

With MS-II, the LEDs should flash very briefly (0.1 sec?) when the power goes on, they don't respond to any inputs until cranking starts. So you might double check for that brief flash, if it's there then everything is probably normal.

i think i found the problem, when i plugged the stim in, it didn't give power. but after pulling the cover off i found out that the jumper for the boot was put on, i9 must have done that by mistake the last time i took the cover off.
