The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.

Attached are the wiring diagrams I created for my V6. I cut the plugs out of an original ECU so I could use the original wiring loom. In hind siight it was a waste of time, and I'm going to rewire it soon. Hopefully it might be of some help.
With the trigger angles being what they are I set the cranking trigger to return which gets it turning over easy, and then set trigger angle to 70 deg.
The your old motor would run well at about 38deg advance at 85-100kpa over ~3000rpm, I don't know how different the new motor would be.
That was very nice of Feck to send these pictures , but you still need a
proper wiring schematic for your particular model car , sometimes
manufacturers change colors or wires for completely stupid reasons ,
you need to verify ALL wires and colors and functions .
Also , you have a 10 to 1 compression engine , there's no way you can ,
or even should try , running 38 degrees advance at 3000 rpm ,
IT WILL KNOCK , and ruin your engine .
Have you gotten those pictures ready to post ?
I have converted them to an Advance.vex file for you .
Tighten-up .
Thank you feck, for the diagrams. ill have to reference them with my manual wiring diagrams.
and Jim, i think feck has a very somilar engine to the one im swapping out with 8.8:1 CR. Also, can this help determine the tables i need or do i have to do some more digging?
The colours shown were the ones I used in my adapter harness, not the OEM wire colours. The pin out may be similar but I'm not sure. I think the graph and the wiring of the Tach trigger are likely the more helpful pic's.
On our car there is a row of plugs on the firewall for the dizzy, injectors, TPS, Idle up stepper, etc. I think those plugs are worth keeping (as standard parts can plug straight in) and work backwards from there to the ECU.
The coil in our car has a little "module" (coil driver) attached to the side of it. It required a 5V trigger. I don't remember if I used the MS to control the dwell.
You now have most of the info you need , I have your converted
Advance Table , I'm waiting for you to post the stuff you sent by E-Mail ,
have you gotten that figured out ?
The info that Feck sent is very valuable , you will need it .
What Feck said about the plugs is great news , you don't have to cut your
harness , just go to the junk yard and find a car like yours and chop out
the individual plugs , leave as much wire length as you can .
the post before Feck put up his scematics should have that screenshot i emailed to you.
ill check on the plugs. i know my dizzy plug is not on the firewall, the MAP is, stepper and the injectors are on their own run from the ECU i think. as far as i know there is no module on my coil at all, just the coil and a 2 wire plug.
ok, got the engine delivered today and i have another question or three.
the new engine sports THREE (3) O2 sensers, can MSII use all 3 or am i limited to 1?
also the TPS on the new engine is a 3 wire.
p.s. MS-II is assembled and should be working fine
