Getting error message when trying to generate VE table

Post by boosted2000 »

The vitals:

1300cc Suzuki Hayabusa motor
Turbonetics turbo
10 lbs of boost
650cc RC injectors
44 lbs fuel pressure
MSD MC-4 ignition

Megasquirt II V3.x and a V 2.2 board

When filling out the varialbles for the VE table; I get an error message that say output too high to model 3.8 hp/in.

180 ft lbs of torque @ 7500
290 hp @9000
10500 rpm redline.

I tried changing the req fuel, but nothing seems to work.

Any clue what I am doing wrong?

boosted2000,

Any engine that puts out 3.8 hp/cid is not 'model-able'. The reason is that the power band is likely to be both narrow and very highly dependent on the engine's specifics, like cam timing, compresiions, intake components, etc., etc., etc.

Getting the VE table wrong with that high a specifc output could destroy the engine in the blink of an eye.

The good news is that anyone capable of building that sort of power ought to be able to make some guesses about things like VE, peak rpm, and that sort of thing. They are likely also capable of tuning such an engine.

So tune slowly and methodically from low loads and rpms (on a dyno if you can), and work your way up the ranges.

Lance.

VE Table

Post by 2WHEELENGR »

I will post my table, though I'm using bigger Turbo, bigger injectors and plan on making more power.

It might be real close with less power and less fuel.

I'm having problems with launching. Don't know if I should use TPS or MAP on my AE.

At 20 lbs. of boost the VE and AFR are good though.

I also am having problems with the bike staying running when I crank at 120 degrees and hotter. Tried increasing the AE temps, but doesn't help.

Oh. If you crank the bike and it dies, you have to reset the MS or it thinks it's still running and it doesn't prime the fuel when starting.

Hope this helps.

I will send the Tables soon. :D
