UpdateEDIS trigger offset? Fixed this Now no timing advance?

MS-II, megatune 2.25, v3 mainboard

Have a question dealing with the trigger offset setting when using EDIS. (This is on a 4cyl BTW)

Withthe wheel and VR sensor mounted and EDIS disconnected from the ms-II I am getting 5 degrees BTDC. I have read that you have to absolutely have it where it reads 10 degrees in limp mode.
What is the reason for this?
Why can't I just adjust the "Trigger Offset" from the 10 degrees to 5 to adjust for the difference?

Randy,

You can. You don't absolutely have to have 10 degrees in 'limp home mode'. That's is Ford's spec, however. Of course Ford doesn't have a trigger offset that can be used to calibrate the system (in the field, at least), so it's important in the OEM setting to get it to 10 degrees.

What you don't want to do is start using the trigger offset to move the sensor onto other teeth, that's the job of the delay teeth (using the trigger offset for that can push some of the tach teeth onto missing teeth, so there would be no trigger for those ignition event - d'oh!)

On my car I found that getting it close to 10 seems to help the hand-off between crank and run. Not because of anything magical about 10, but 10 is closer to my idle timing than 5. How is the starlett coming along?

Well we went ahead and moved the vr sensor and now it is reading very close to 10btdc. But when hooked back up to the MS it doesn't advance any.
The ignition options are set like this

The timing map is set to all 25's and the megatune guage screen shows the correct advance.
Megatune is also showing an RPM so it is getting a signal.

I'm sure it is something simple.

Not to point out the obvious, but have you checked the ignition output on the stim? If that is good, I would do all the normal check and double check on the wiring and connections. Other than that I have no useful input.

i have check all wires ..and im not getting any voltage while cranking on the saw signal comming from the MS what could be wrong????

You can't use a voltmeter to check the SAW signal, especially at cranking speeds, as the voltmeter reacts far too slowly. You need an oscilloscope for checking these sorts of signals.

Assuming you have MS-II (I don't see any background info in this thread for you) you need to go back and check the jumpers and settings as shown on this page:
