I've been reading as much as i can about set up and wiring... megatune manual and bunchs of info on anything I think I need to know. Starting from square 1, like everyone here has. It's hard to know where to start with the sheer mass of info on this site. So i put it to you smart guys to help me out. So... without futher adeu'.....

I've been planning to build a turbo banshee for a long while now. and when I first put it to my bro. who is a strait up geneous with anything with an engine. He told me to wait for microsquirt. So... I started reading and gathering info about what I need. "whittlebeast" has helped me a few times already with which maf to get. And also to go HUGE on the injectors. Like 25lbs primarys and 55lbs secondaries (turbo) which is more than I need for gas, but I might be going to a 10% nitro/alcohol mix. Which I might even have to go bigger than that.

Question#1> Why is their a boost limitation of 20lbs.? Can a new code be written so I can run upwards of 30+lbs.? Because the turbo I'm using is most efficient at around 2>2.5 bar (roughly 25-36lbs)

Question#2> Can somebody send me a rough wiring dia. for a ste-up like this one? (windband o2(lc-1) / maf(ford) / tps ect.

Question#3> Will micro be able to do what I'm asking? aka 2 sets of injectors and all the above...(high boost)

Question#4> What else do I need to know/need to get moving on this before the micro is out?

#1 The only limitation you'd have on boost is what the MAP sensor is capable of. The normally used megasquirt sensor is good for 250kpa, or roughly 21psi, you can also use a 300kpa or 400kpa sensor instead with little difficulty so you're good up to about 56psi. Microsquirt uses an external MAP and I'm not familiar with what is available but I can assure you that doing over 20psi will be no problem.

#2 Can't help you there, but if your brother is at all comfortable with electronics this should be a peice of cake.

#3/4 Microsquirt will work out fine for your application. However, in my opinion its not going to be worth the wait or price. While packaging is always a challenge with any powersport vehicle, I'd guess if I can find the room on my motorcycle you can spare the room to mount a full-size megasquirt on your quad.


In any case, good luck with your project. I'm really curious as to how long you can keep that motor together at 25+ PSI. I've done some research into turbo-two strokes in the past in the interest of my snowmobiles and they seem in general to be a finicky bunch! I look forward to seeing the results! :D

Have you seen any Turbo Two Strokes ? I'd be concerned about a couple of other things first. How do you plan to keep the main seals in? A two stroke uses the crank and crank area to force the intake charge into the cylinder as the piston is moving down. The piston does very little to pull the charge in. The turbo would be pressurizing the bottom end which would in turn force more air into the cylinder, in theory. The seals on the crank like to blow out without a turbo so adding a few pounds of pressure would certainly help them along the way.

I'm not so worried about it. I have seen a stock banshee w/20psi. I've gone to great lenghts to prepare my motor. As far as the center seal it's not the oem rubber one. it's been redesigned with an alum body w/ triple o-rings. And since the turbo will be pushing in air throught the reeds equally on each cylinder. the bottom side will only see the same amount of squish(pressure spike) as stock until the transfer ports open. The only difference is the air will already be pressurized. I can remedy that problem by making the ports open sooner but that in turn will allow more blow through. But the air pres. will do enough of that anyways. insureing a clean charge.
