No cranking pulses to injectors??

Post by superelbert »

My engine won't start!

I'm running a MS1 V2.2, just upgraded to code 29q and squirt' n spark.
The car worked fine with the old 8x8 MAP only firmaware.

If I pour some petrol town the throttle body, it fires up straight away and idles, hence I've been able to adjust idle, and the system seems to be working fine apart from when I try to start.
I allso take this as an indication that It's not a flooding issue.

I have changed cranking PW up and down with no aparent results.

Whn I look at the run-time display, it shows no PW during cranking.
Is this normal, or an indication that something is wrong??

When the engine is idling, the runtime display shows PW.

Can anybody give me a hint about what my problem might be???

superelbert,

It sounds like you might be in flood clear mode. You might also have no pwer to MegaSquirt while cranking. Make a datalog (http://www.megamanual.com/megatune.htm#fl) and post it here, we'll be able to say a lot more.

Lance.

Nope, flood clear mode is not activated, and to the best of my understanding everything is ok in the power department!
After All, I drove the4 car before converting to the new code...

Datalogging..... Duh!!! How obvious!!!
That should tell me if the injectors are being fired or not!!!
Why wasn't I capable of figuring that out for my self!!!???

Anyway, thank's for the answer, I'll be a good boy and do some logging straight away! :)

"Nope, flood clear mode is not activated"... Yeah. right.......

Do i feel stupid or what!!???

You were absolutely right Lance, flood clear was the reason i didn't get any injector pulsing during cranking!

I looked at the value for entering flood clear thresshold, and for the olsd software I ran, this thresshold was given in volts as off the TPS pot, and here I was supposed to enter the value in ..eh... err.. well, the numeric calue corresponding to the digital value of the voltage on the TPS!

I had entered 3,5 as this was the setting I had used previously, increasing the figure to 190 suddenly made things happen...

It was all there in the help menu of course, bt as the saying goes; "assumption is the brother of all F...-up's!"

Anyway, you put me on the right track, so thanks a lot Lance for getting me out odf this blind alley!
