Ms-II, V3.0, 2.36

I'm using the high current ignition driver to fire a single coil. I'm using the pertronix hall sensor kit with a pull up resistor as my input. I first had issues getting a trigger signal but the pull up resistor fixed it. I'm trying to setup up my ignition but I'm having a difficult time getting it right. I need advice on:
1. What do I use as my trigger input capture? How do I measure to determine which edge to trigger from?

2. Where do I initially set my distributor to (before I start the engine)? 0 degrees? 10 deg BTDC? This is where my problems start. I don't know where to set it.

3. I'm trying to understand the trigger wizard a little more, but sometimes the large number does not match what my timing light & mark shows. What method should I use to adjust the trigger angle, rotate the distributor or adjust the "small" number in the trigger wizard?

4. I tried using the table generator to come up with a spark advance table using the information from my vehicle, but the numbers I get don't look right. When the engine was running the display showed 54 deg. at one point with the end of the table somewhere in the 80's? How can this be?

So I started over with the example settings that come with Megatune during the initial install. It runs *ok*, but I still don't have matching numbers and I'm just turning the distributor in frustration just to keep the engine running. Now the engine surges (yet another issue to deal with) and I just need some advice on how to set my timing and advance correctly so I can start tuning everything else correctly. Thanks for the help.

Where to set initial distributor timing

Sorry for replying to an older post. I have read that article over and over trying to understand how to set up the ignition. But I still don't know where to set the distributor initially. I can't get the numbers from the wizard and the timing light to match. The timing light doesn't even show the timing mark anywhere near where it's supposed to be. So how do I know where to start? I 'understand' what the trigger wizard is supposed to do, but there's something I'm not understanding.

try that.

start and warm the engine.

with the engine running to to tables->ignition table->tools->transform and do scale by 0 (that is zero).
This will set all timing to 0.. everywhere. You might need to help the engine run with a bit of throttle... do it. Confirm that one megatune display advance is 0. trigger wizard should show 0 aswell...

set the timing light to fire at zero aswell.

now when you 'apply' timing light, the timing mark should be exacly at TDC mark. if it's not something is screwed.

Even without FI... the stock carb'ed Triumph GT6 and late
Spitfires were dynamically timed at 4° ATDC (not btdc)

My current Spit6 project ms'ed with crank fired wasted
spark...will idle from around 20atdc to 40 btdc. sure i
have to play with some other settings..but it WILL do it.

Nice but my original question remains has anyone got links to those nice spread sheets that were in the sticky above for timing maps? Theyre gone!

Thanks mops, it worked perfectly. I'm at the point where I can start applying values for my idle timing in the ignition table. So far I'm idling at 6-10 degrees btdc (as it did with the old carb and point setup). I began to use the trigger wizard and can finally understand how to come up with matching numbers (timing light and display). Now for a few calcs and fill in the rest of the table. Throw in a little IAC tuning and I should have something solid to start with. Thanks to the forums and all those who are part of it. It's good to know there are people out there who are willing to help.

no poroblem :)

thats how i always set my trigger, as my cheap timing light doesnt have the 'delay' function.... it just fires when there's spark... so thats my only way to do it...
