helpful squirter in Twin Cities?

Post by re-animator »

Hello!

I've got it idling, but there's a few things that are making this unpleasant.

1. After running for a few minutes, once it's coolant is up onto the 150 range, it starts to gain RPM, going from 800 or so to 1500. I'd like to hold a steady idle, somewhere in the 750-1000 range. It's got a decent cam and idled there with the carb.

2. I can't seem to get the thing to stabilize on the EGO meter, green, red, green, red. It has a slight surge to it. Should I turn off the EGO correction?

3. Why doesn't the ECU pull out/put in fuel when I'm moving the red "x" around? I have tried using "S" for save and "B" for burn (like it says in the help area on the tuning/VE table page) and nothing seems to happen. Am I not cut out to be a Squirter?

If there's anybody in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area that would like to come over and help, I will pay in beer (if you're 21 or older, of course). I'm sure it's something really easy and something I've just not figured out after reading the mega manual all these times. That thing can be a bit long in it's descritption, leading to (at least for me) more than press "q" for rich and "w" for lean.........I grew up on carburators, forgive my dragging knuckles!

I am not the most experienced, but I have got my car running reasonably well. Whereabouts are you? I am in Eagan. You can email me at simon<at>sandlbosworth.com

Simon,

Thanks, I'll send you an email tonight.

I shut off the EGO, and I've got it idling at 800-ish with 55-60 kPa. It's smooth and I'm happy with it for now. I'm sure I'll be tweaking it.

Tomorrow it's time to tune it on the road. Wish me luck.
