mega tune problems

Post by vwmann1 »

My old laptop "crap" the bed so I had to get a new one. I have downloaded mega tune 2.25. I can open the configurator. I have changed all the settings to what I had before.

When I run megatune itself I get this error:
"ERROR:megatune.ini:0040-The included file'MegaSquirt-II.ini' could not be opened. MegaTune is terminating"

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Mega Tune with no help.

I must tell you I did not set up the first laptop and I am not the best computer nerd. I am good at tuning engines not the computer. I have searched the web pages on configuring and instalation untill I am blue in the face and I can not find what I am doing wrong. I do seem to remember I had a MegaSquirt icon on the desk top before, I just can find where to comfirm this. Any help would be great. I am at a total loss here.

I am using a V3 box with the blue board and a toughbook running windows 2000. I hope this is enough info for you guys to help me. If not just post here and I will get it right up.

vwmann1,

Did you activate one of the MegaSquirt-II.ini files (the one that matches the code you have loaded to your MegaSquirt)?

There's more on installing MegaTune here: http://www.megamanual.com/megatune.htm#install

and details on activating the INI file in step #11 here: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/code.htm#downloader

OK perfect. now I have megatune. now I have 'no responce' from the ECU. I have a PCMCIA wireless modem. Do you think that is blocking the com port? I don't think so, but I would like some confirmation.

It is possible. Try looking under the 'control panel/system/hardware/device manager' to see what ports things are using.
