Engine is hard to start

Post by sindre »

driving with MS-II v.3.0 on a audi 10v turbo ignition and fuel

when it's cold it starts okay, but when it's warm so that the cold start enrichments not is there I have to turn it a loty before it starts. Is there somwhere I can give it more fuel to start(cranking)?

I also have trouble with driving on cold engine, it wont have high rpm, so that I use verry long time to get to driving speed in the morning.

And one last question... When the turbo spins but the engine will not have it, shall I tune ignition advance up or down?
(i get pressure, but no accelleration....)

do you have a wide band gauge to see what your fuel ratio is doing? those are all just tuning issues.

Check the cranking table and warmup enrichments. You can tweak the warm-up so it's still active on a hot day.

- hard starting can be affected by Cranking RPM, After Start Enrichment, Cranking Pulse, Priming Pulse width, Warm Up enrichment. *** Read these areas again.

- cold engine with a low rpm - DO you run an idle stepper? If not you can play with timing, and fuel to compensate for this behavior.

- If turbo spins and engine will not have it. SOMETHING is not right. Carefull. You need a wideband and preferably and EGT if you want to tune by the seat of your pants. Generally ignition advance is pulled back as boost comes on.

can you explain what your wideband is saying during those moments of power loss? it's either too rich or too lean :)

thanks for all answers!

turbo spin but engine will not have it:
to much fuel in warm up...11 afr is to much

warm up and warm start:
what should be in "number of ignition cycles"? what does it do?

it's still hard to start when it is warm....

i do not have an idle stepper
