I think he means the harness breaks out with a 2.5mm jack on it (like the Innovate LC-1). Maybe B&G will release a "standard" harness that ships with the MicroSquirt?
Yes, you have it right. The AMPSEAL pins are a beast to hand crimp right such that they will slip into the plug connector. So we are getting the plug end professionally assembled with wires for every pin. There will not be any assembly required on the connector plug end, it will come fully populated with the wires already installed. The wires are color-coded and labelled.

The serial I/O also comes out of the AMPSEAL, so for this there is a short pigtail that terminates to a 2.5mm jack. There will be a corresponding 2.5mm plug wire with a DB-9 connector. This cable will come with MicroSquirt.

In fact the harnesses are one of the holdups for release. I have tested and verified many of the units and installed the bootloader. Al is finishing up a bit in the code, this will be the 2.8 version of MS-II. It has the dual points mode which is needed for uS. It also has a lot of other goodies (MAF/SD/AlphaN blend, and hopefully the alpha-beta-gamma tracking filter).

astrolt,

Yes, I think so. There is some work going on in the background to make sure the documentation, manuals, code and INI are ready for release, and I imagine production is getting very close.

How close depends on what unexpected hurdles pop-up, but at this point it looks like the major pieces are in place.

Any other teasers? I'd love to see what the MicroSquirt looks like inside a tiny case! 8)

i was wondering how alike the serial connections are in the microsquirt compared to the megasquirt. reason i wanted to know was because i was gonna bypass the max323 chip and connect the tx/rx directly to a motorola usb cable i have and see if it would work like my honda ecu does. i use both a usb and serial cable and they both work. this might be helpful for people who dont have serial ports and dont want to use adapters.

nissan300sx,

The serial connections are almost identical (electrically) to the MS-II/V3 main board, but is implemented in SMT devices, obviously.

The serial connections (Rx/Tx/gnd) will be brought out to a jack in the wirting harness, so these signals are available externally. If you want the signals from the processor, rather than the MAX3221 (similar to the MAX232), then you have to dig into the box.

Hi all,

Here's a few more pictures:

Just for scale, the AMPseal connector is about the same width as a DB37 connector.
