future Microsquirt conversion????

that's part of the reason I'm so bent on making it happen. With the exception of a few, everyone said "it's gonna cause problems" or "your crazy, that won't work".hybrid wrote:Part of the fun of doing Mega/Micro is the fact that you get to thumb your nose at the people who didn't think it would work, or that you couldn't/shouldn't do it at all!
There are other motors like mine that are FI'd but much smaller displacement. Heck, if it works on those, it will work on mine.
I guess it's the stubborness in me and the desire to prove everyone wrong.

I'm just wondering if you wouldn't get better throttle response when trashing through the bogs, with MS running the engine, if you disabled the governor? It may need to be re-engaged for WOT when going from A to B, or you could sit the engine close to the hard rev limit you set for MS, but for difficult spots where you might need a bit of full throttle, then half throttle, then some more etc, the governor may take away some control, in that it would give WOT when only half throttle at lower revs was asked for, just food for thought. Governors are generally used in stationary engines running in steady state conditions, if you want throttle response, and need it in tricky situations, you might be better off without it.toon2 wrote:Throttle response is more of a concern. When in use, I would say that 50% of the time it's at WOT, the other 50% is in and out of the throttle, trashing through mud bogs , Tules, weeds, ect..
However if your *only* criticism of the carb is the lack of the accel pump, then disregard this post. I guess once you get it installed you could try both options and see which works best.

Ian.
the stalling happens down low in the rpm range, before the governor is kicked in. The way the throttle linkage is connected and the lack of a accel pump seem to be the culprit. I have tried diffent ways to fix this and use the carb. but none have worked.
The linkage tends to snap the butterflies open quickly.About 1/2 turn of the tiller handle is W/O carb. The rest of the rpm range is against the governor, and with no accel pump it starves the motor.
It's like a car stalling if you take off hard from a stop without spinning the tires.
