Suzuki GS500, love the bike, hate the carbs - Hello btw ! :)
So, hello, and thanks to anyone that wants to point me towards a good place to start.
My goals:
1) gather off the shelf (junkyard, whatever) that will be easily replacable in the event of a failure of a part
2) assemble the parts to a working system that does not require re-calibration for sea level changes, temperature changes, humidity, etc
3) begin a small production of fuel injection kits for fellow GS500 owners, once I have a reliable system and possibly branch out to others.
4) have a USB dongle, or some way to remap a system with a computer
I'm asking alot, I know, and I have very little knowledge of how stuff works in the FI / EFI world.
I've torn into my carbs countless times trying to rid a rich spot here, or a lean spot there, and been so frustrated considered just selling the bike. It's a fine machine, and served me well, with the exception of those nasty carbs.
Now then, point me somewhere if you like, just say hi, or show me your project.
Thanks, and hello !

Hi there Matt,Matt Cramer wrote:Hi,
I've got a GS500F myself, but haven't tried to put EFI on it yet. A Microsquirt is likely to work for this - you'll need a second MAP sensor for altitude correction. Would you be controlling just the fuel, or also trying to control the spark?
So far I'm only hoping to control fuel. Once it's all together I might look into controlling spark also, but right now don't really see the point.
Are you considering a EFI system for your gs, or got some other monster project going ?
BTW, check out gstwins.com if you're not a member already. my nick is the same there as here, as it is quite a few other forums.
What year is your gs ? Got any fun mods going on it ?
Keep me posted aight ?

That one should be pretty simple then.ohgood wrote:Hi there Matt,

I'm probably going to Microsquirt a different bike first. Riding season's coming up quickly here in Atlanta. Are you considering a EFI system for your gs, or got some other monster project going ?
Already there, but I don't post too often on the forum.BTW, check out gstwins.com if you're not a member already. my nick is the same there as here, as it is quite a few other forums.
It's a 2005. Mostly stock except that I've put some ghetto bar risers on it (bought a set of stock bar caps off a GStwins member who was parting out a wreck and flipped them upside down) and some saddle bags. What year is your gs ? Got any fun mods going on it ?
Keep me posted aight ?
