Actually, to change the tach, you only need to chaneg the line:
Code: Select all
tachometer = rpm, "Engine Speed", "RPM", 0, 8000, 300, 500, 5000, 6000, 0, 0Code: Select all
tachometer = rpm, "Engine Speed", "RPM", 0, 11000, 300, 500, 9000, 10000, 0, 0You can do this using notepad or wordpad (which come with windows).
There's more here: http://www.megamanual.com/mt28.htm#installgauge

As Lance says you only have to change the line ...pommie02 wrote:Thanks...
I can see this is going to be a steep learning curve
I saw the help file heading "Gauge Configurations" too, but if you scroll through the xxx-II.ini in your active file you will see it. I also found it easier to use the find function in Notepad, putting "tacho" in the search box and hitting "Find Next"
I think it is the second hit, AFAIR and then all you do is alter the values, save the file and when you start MegaTune again it's done.
PS I ended up with 10,500 -11,000 redline and it was a non issue. Gotta learn how to change the colours next.

There were some problems is a very recent release of MegaTune that has caused some problems activating files (that particular release has been pulled).
If this was mine, I would uninstall MegaTune (click on the 'C:\Program Files\MegaSquirt\MegaTune2.25\unins000.exe' file in the MegaTune folder), then reinstall the version from here: http://www.megamanual.com/files/softwar ... _setup.exe.
If you have already modified the INI file, you can save it somewhere like the desktop, the move it to the project's mtCfg folder (:\Program Files\MegaSquirt\car1\mtCfg\) after re-instralling MegaTune. You don't need to 'activate' it after doing that. All activating does is move the file to the project folder and rename it by removing the numbers off the end (i.e. megasquirt-II.ini.2.8 becomes megasquirt-II.ini).

You and Dave have a connection, I am a friend of Dave's, do you want me to come around and help get it sorted, if so, just PM me. It could take 5 days over the internet or 1/2 hr in real life. The "shell execute 31 error" does not sound good, I could bring another laptop to check against.
