For Microsquirt? I don't think so. Last I recall it was pretty clear that, due to the SMD design of Microsquirt, kits were not practical.

That's correct. Microsquirts are currently only sold in assembled form. (Or more accurately, will only be sold in assembled form once the new batch is ready.)

Any word on the logic-level outputs or 2x18 header version of the board mentioned in the state of the union 2008? I have a V6 application that would really benefit from this.

The new uS box will have selectable high current or logic level spark outputs using BIP373's for the high current drivers. Initially available just as before in a fully cased model with connector/etc. The header-only uncased version will be available down the road just a bit, not sure on the exact ETA but I don't expect it to be too far out.

Its much closer than you think....

The V2 version of Microsquirt board is ready to be run at the contract manufacturer right now, next Tuesday I will go to the CM and check the board out. The V2 board is a minor board change which includes:

- Selectable outputs for ignition, either logic-level or BIP373 driver outputs.
- Resistor in series w/ bootloader signal
- Input for last analog-to-digital channel for MAF option. This is also shared with the pulse accumulator timer input as well, so this one wire will support both analog and frequency-based MAF sensors.
- Increase in VR input series resistance (since most need this).

So with this version checking out, I am ready to submit the "module" version of MicroSquirt. All that changes is the ampseal is removed and replaced with a 0.1" header (2 x 25). Everything else is the same, and the board is all laid out and ready for PCB manufacture. We may not have this board wave-soldered but only the SMT parts soldered on to make it more flexible (and to save cost), since the uses of the board will be different. I have to make up a jig to be able to test the module, using "pogo-pins" to get to the unpopulated signal header. Target price is low US$200.00 or thereabouts, depending on CM and module testing cost.

The module is the size of a business card and will be the most cost-effective EMS for DIY experimenting! Its gonna be sweet!

Bruce, when will the fully assembled cased version of Microsquirt be available again at retailers?

It could be as little as 2 weeks, depending on how fast we can turn the new board version at the CM...
