Unable to load current code.

Post by kvw »

Working on a friends new US install and his laptop has usb adapter and wouldn't connect. So i downloaded the latest package from DIY on mine so i would have the newer files. Tried it and it connected but i didn't have the right ini file. So figured we should just load the 2.890 in his US. Couldn't not figure out the new downloader? Used the old 1.04 version and the and it still couldn't get it to work. Said connection timed out? Tried changing the speed etc, had the right baud. I have done this before with success so i'm like "huh". Turned it off, unhooked the bootloader wire. Cycle the switch and now the fuel pump doesn't cycle and megatune doesn't connect now? I figured no code now? Tried all kinds of stuff, don't know what to do now. And my laptop connects to my US. Looking for any help thanks.

kvw,

Check the tips here: http://www.megamanual.com/connect.htm (these are for MS-I and MS-II, but mostly apply to MicroSquirt as well).

Also, could you post a complete screen shot of the error message? There may be a few clues in there about what went wrong.

Wish i would thought of taking a screen shot. My friend is swapping back to a carb for last race. I had connection until i tried to load new code. Even tried hooking it up to my desktop, turned of every printer port etc. I did finally find the new downloader, which is great. The first time i tried it, it said code erased then it timed out. The status bar did go to 55%? Could he send it back to DIY have it checked out?

Sometimes switching to another program while the downloader is running can cause trouble. Please try again and post a screen shot - I'll have a look and see what's going on.

Latest update, my friend is able to load an old code like 2.33. When he tries to load the new 2.890 he gets an error. He used the ms-ii embedded code page for the 2.890 file. I tried that one and the one in the new down loader. I'll see if he can get a screen shot. I'll have him get the new down loader also. Thanks

The line

ERROR: Reading C:/Program Files/MegaSquirt/Firmware/MS-II/Monitor_v2.890.abs.s19 line 666: Invalid checksum, found 0x1c, expected 0xb2.

means that record 666 in the Monitor_V2.890.abs.s19 file is invalid. Record 666 in my 2.890 file has a 0x1c checksum and loads without error so I think something in your record has been altered. You might try downloading another copy of 2.890. I loaded my copy from the megamanual web site.
