Ignition only Microsquirt set up.

Post by haybayian »

Hello List,
I am new here and relatively new to electronics as well.

I have however bought a MicroSquirt unit from DIY in hope to figure out a way to run the ignition (only) of a 1998 Volkswagen jetta engine which I have retrofitted from EFI to carbs. This engine has a missing tooth wheel 60-2 (on the crankshaft) and an ignition distributor originally controlled by the stock ECU. I hope to be able to set up the Microsquirt unit as simply as it would be humanly possible and I wonder if someone here could offer some advice (other than read the manual) to get me started.

Thanks. :)

That should be simple enough. The manual section on missing tooth wheels covers the settings needed:

Running ignition only is fairly straightforward. There are no ignition-only specific settings, but you can just leave the fuel outputs disconnected.
