Try the beta version of TS and see if this eliminates this issue.

It appears that the current release version and beta are the same version, V1.10 & 4.58Mb. Or am I being dumb after a day of snorting carbon monoxide?

No, not dumb at all, the link is updated constantly, so when I posted it was at 1.080, and has been refreshed since.

PS Mind the CO, as it caught me out once whilst trying to get one of my bikes running using the laptop in a shed. The wind was blowing the wrong way, so it just never really cleared, and I knew what was happening without hindsight. It was only when I started feeling nauseous, that I realised I'd done too much time in there, and my CO tolerance was not what it used to be!

I might not be the best expert on this issue, but I had a similar problem, system worked fine stand-alone, but if my PC was connected, the MicroSquirt would reset, and communicates would lock up. I had two different configurations, both were ignition only, both had the same problem. In the first configuration, I ran the coil negative into the optical as my trigger. The next configuration, I removed the coil trigger, and I switch to a 36-1 wheel into the VR as my trigger. Both configurations had the same problem. I solved my problem by doing two things, since I'm running the MicroSquirt module, I was able to run the communication wires out the back side of my box, making sure that they are separated from the trigger and coil output wires. I also switched to twisted pair shielded wires for both the trigger wires and coil driver wires. What I think is happening is that the communication wires is picking up noise from the ignition and trigger wires. I know that while TunerStudio is running, it is constantly sending commands down to the MicroSquirt, and is getting data sent back. My guess is that if you send enough junk to the Microsquit that you can cause it to reset. That why when TunerStudio is not running, the problem doesn't show up. If you are using an RS232 to USB cable, this problem might be better or worst depending on which cable you use, past posts have claim that some converters have less problems.

Thanks, I'll add that to my list of things to try tonight. I already split the comms leads out of the harness to keep them as far away as possible from noise and added suppression capacitors on the coil pack but right now I'll give anything a try.

Hello jonfx4com,

Have you managed to solve your problem ? Cause i have the exact same problem on my squirted GSXR 1100 and so would be interested by the solution (only I run 2.89 code, and use a PCMCIA to serial converter).

Cheers

Max
