Map sensor

Post by mcmuck »

Hi There! I'm brand new to this, I have my GL1000 set up and am getting ready try to start it, but my map sensor reading is 82 ish and my airport tells me the pressure is 101.5, I tries the formula for correction in the help sewction and I'm using the GM 3 bar sensor but the formula appeared to give me an even lower reading.(which could be operator error) So I'm confused about how this works?
If you don't know how it works how do you know when it's working?

What data are you entering in TunerStudio under Sensor Calibration?

Hi Matt!
I was using the default but went to the help file and used the formula which seemed incorrect, I kept searching after posting and eventually found values posted by Bruce that were 1.1 and 315.5 for the GM 3 bar sensor and that seems to be pretty well on with the pressure listed for this area in the manual. Is this correct as far as you can tell? The manual shows 92.46 at 2500 ft, I'm at 2600 and now showing 93
so I think I've got it.
While I'm at it, is there a way to verify the reading of my second map sensor? I used the spare lead from the ecu and the vref and sensor ground to the same terminals as the one reading manifold pressure, what I mean to say is it is using the common sensor ground and vref but the spare Ecu lead. Hope that makes sense. I'd like to add a gauge to the dash board in tuner studio temporarily to make sure it is providing correct info. I ran across a post that mentioned resistors and things to wire in the second map sensor and want to be sure I've done this correctly. There is so much documentation on this stuff it's confusing for a beginner but I think I'm making progress.
Thanks
Kelly

That sounds correct.

You should be able to right-click on a gauge and swap it to a baro gauge for the second pressure sensor signal if you want to check that.
