Same question for the MS2/Extra composite logger

He told me that when the cylinder is TOP DEAD CENTER the 2 missing teeth are 20 teeth from the VR sensor. I assume he means 20 teeth before the missing teeth and not after, I can physically check this out later if necessary.

It sounds as if you will need to change the Delay Teeth setting to 20 in this case.

Here's my last MSQ file, have not gotten out to the hangar today to try that "TachRef" program, as it is quite cold today .

Have a question, purchased my Microsquirt from DiyAutotune back in late 2010 (Sept. I think) it shows a 2.886 code embedded, would this version of the Microsquirt accept the later code with the "ignition autotune", or would this not be a good move ?????

Are you talking about the "auto-trigger"?

You can load it with upgraded code no problem.

Yes, Auto Trigger, that's the one. Would this solve a lot of my headaches with this ignition problem?? What version of code should I try to load ??

Auto trigger is in the 3.7x code, and it would help set the tooth angles, but not necessarily the other issues.

You'll want to get some sort of record of what signals the module is seeing.

Sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner, had to take some time out and go play "hospital", certainly not my favorite game. Have looked over the "TachRef" program and sort of understand it, but the procedures involving the "S19" is over my head. It appears there is a "special" S19 file to be downloaded off the Microsquirt forum somewhere and into the laptop then from the laptop into the ECU and this is after you remove the exixting S19 from the ECU , etc etc etc and then everything is to be put back somehow to "normal".

Is there a "step by step" sequential program in the Microsquirt procedures that would walk me through this "up load, download, reload and unload that appears to be necessary before I can use the TachRef test ??? It also appears the "bootloader" is used from time to time, great opportunity for me to screw up.

Using TachRef can be a bit of a step up at first, but it was useful for me trying to understand VR issues many years ago.

However,I would recommend a cheapo 2 channel USB scope from fleaBay as a good course of action. I got one, and although not as esoteric as others, it was more than adequate for trouble shooting VR voltages and scoping the signals. Once these looked like they should the MicroSquirt had no problems detecting cranking tach and synching.
