Post by mr_mcfarlane »

Pretty much what the the subject says:

Does a backfire damage teh o2 sensor? I am considering a WB sensor, and I have the occasionaly backfire upon startup, that i haven't completely tuned out yet.

Thanks

Backfire is in your inletmanifold and not your exhaust.

So your o2 sensor will see almost no mixture.

Okay, well, will an explosion in the pipe damage the o2 sensor?

That could be possible, because the cell is a hard material and can crack by real heavy vibrations.

Mostly no problem. But unpossible is nothing.
