One coil driver is fine for my RZ500 project I think.
V4 with wasted spark on each cylinder every 180 degrees.
Easy!

There are two separate coils, but both fire simultaneously.

Yours is generally the exception to the rule, two ignition coils
firing individually is pretty well it for almost every other
multicylinder Japanese bike on the market from the 1970's up (exclude
triples and 6's).

There is no way I am going to get a z900 or Honda 4 to work on one coil.

Also, direct input from points is required in Microsquirt for most
early bikes also, untill a slotted disk and trigger unit are available
to bolt straight in place of the standard points on these style bikes.

Is anyone building a universal slotted disk (motocycle) points
replacement bolt in unit to work with Mega/microsquirt yet ?

Sid, try Dynatek http://www.dynaonline.com they make aftermarket electonic pickup modules for alot of bike. I know that i am using the Dyna S on my goldwing and it work 1000% better than stock points :lol:

If there is room for the internal MAP, might there be room for two sensors, with one being the external ambient sensor? Are there no extra analogs to service it?

There isnt room... hence the intension being to run an external map

or am I missing somthing?

You are correct. They typical MAP sensor is, as you know, very large. There are some SMT devices (sold by the vendors, soldered to adapter cards) that might fit...

I think the point of MicroSquirt is to use it primarily in applications where it will be exposed to the elements. Running a hose into a non-potted box-o'-volts is bad juju. If the hose came off, sparky sparky, no worky.

toyota prototype

I'm building a prototype for hillclimbs and I am verry happy to find
out about this waterproof enclosure.
In my engine I have 2 VR sensors on responding on 24 teeth and one with
4 teeth.
Do you need 2 inputs for wasted spark or is it possible to use only
one VR to drive the unit.
I could use the standard distributor and one coil driver becouse the VR sensor is inside the distributor anyway.

I hope to get my hands one one of these verry soon!!!

When follow the ordering link there is no sine of Microsquirt yet?

Quickee update on MicroSquirt: Due to popular demand for two separate ignition channels/VB921 drivers, there are now two on MicroSquirt. And we also added another VR sensor input on another IC channels, so there are two VR sensor inputs. Al has the code where spark can be triggered off of one VR sensor, or, by using two VR input channels with each VR tied to one spark/fuel channel. In other words, VR channel 1 controls spark output 1, and VR channel 2 controls spark output 2. These are independent from each other, and will support odd-fire (the two VR sensors do not have to be 180-degrees apart in spacing). Al has the code all complete, waiting for me to get the hardware back for test.

Right now the test PCBs are being made up, and in about 2 weeks I will have the prototype board ready for assembly and test. This should be pretty much the real, final deal (unless I screwed something up). If so then we have components, cases waiting and we can begin rolling this thing out!

WOOWOO!! independant VR and spark output!! I got 4 motorcycles all that would love EFI and microsquirt suits the bill now that this features' been announced.

It is verry good to have the 2 VR inputs but I think that in my case
the second one won't do me anny good.
You see there are 2 triggerwheels in my distributor one with 24 teeth and
one with 4 teeth.
I asume that the stock ecu uses the 24 wheel for the rpm and the 4 wheel
for position.
Now I already found out it will work fine with one VR input so wy complicate things when you don't need to.
Please set me straight when I'm wrong.
Perhaps it is possible to use the both VR inputs the same way the stock ecu does.

I hope that it is working fine so they can be sold soon.

I was ready to by the mega unit but now it seems worthwile to wait
for the micro "wonder" unit!!!
