Ian.
I had kinda hoped that the ends on that style of pump could be modified so as to accept a fuel line on the intake side instead of having the sock surround it. Most don't, just open on the end. An inline fuel filter just before the intake side would do the same job as the sock. Oh well, back to messin' with the resistor and my MSD2225.

Resistor or speed controller?
How about making a regulator/speed controller circuit that measures the pressure out of the pump, and then regulate the pump motor to keep 3 bar or whatever pressure one need on the fuel rail/injectors?FIntruder wrote:It'll be awhile before I start experimenting with the resistor and the MSD pump. I'll keep ya posted.
Would require a pressure sensor in the fuel line between the pump and the injectors... but might solve a few problems related to 'squirt convert a carb Harley:
1. This would makeit possible to use whatever inline pump available
2. The current draw to the pump will be minimized to just exactly what the pump needs to generate the pressure needed
3. This could eliminate the need for a mechanical fuel pressure regulator
4. This could eliminate the need for a return line from the regulator.
These may just be a crazy idea.... anyone have experience with a setup like this? Have anyone a cuicuit layout available, and what pressure sensor to use? Any input welcome.
Another problem is I think it would probably surge too much as it constantly adjusted to keep the pressure at the designated setting. I wonder if any high-end cars like F1 or something uses a system like that. All I have ever seen is the "bleed off the extra" regulator style, they seem to be the standard and everything is made to work in a system like that.
I guess I'm just gonna have to give it a try and see for myself like I had to with my 1 OHM speakers years ago that no one said would work. Sorry for the sarcasm, its a gift that I sometimes share with my closest friends.
