HI, still new to this and pulling my hair out, last ditch attempt at getting it to fire then i am selling the lot, engine microsquirt the lot lol.
I have a 2.0 zetec running wasted spark non edis module standard efi basically a standard zetec minus oem ecu.
All plugged in and occasionally connects to laptop, since reflashing the code its tempremental, anyway the main problem is i cannot get it to fire, the engine speed cranks between 2500 and 8000 rpm, the tach pulse gauge counts the pulses until it resets so i guess i have something going on, i know the rpm is way to high to start but i cannot get it to stabilise, pulled the timer plug on the vr, took vr sensor out, put it back reconnected same again, change wires to vr nothing changed, same readings, i thought that would have changed,i have noticed that output 2 doesnt register any voltage but output 1 does, this seems odd to me, i would have thought that both would be the same..either voltage or no voltage(?) Any ideas about my problems?
Chris...going balder by the reset !

If you are using standard ignition, then there is only one ignition output. This mode is meant to fire with a distributor, which only has one ignition input. You need to use dual spark mode with a 4 cylinder dual coil wasted spark setup.

But you also have a bad rpm, probably meaning you also have VR sensor problems. Try configuring it with dual spark and try it. If that doesn't help, we need to see your msq.

Please post a copy of your MSQ file and a data log of an attempted start.

Matt with all due respect...how do i do that? In megatune i go to datalog and press record? then crank the engine and save? but then how do i transfer that to the forum, apologies but very new to this.

That is a valid data log. You don't appear to be getting an RPM signal and your MAP reading is way too high.

I will also need the MSQ file - that's the file you get when you go to File -> Save As while connected to the Microsquirt.

HI, its a wasted spark setup, theres no option for wasted spark in the default msq, do i need to set input to dual tach input? Took vr sensor out checked wiring all seems fine, i wired it as per efi's description, but to verify, coming out of the ecu is a grey cable with IGN on it, this is a coax with a white cable running thru it, the kit is supplied with a length of black sleeving inside which is a coax containing a red cable and a blue cable, i disregarded the blue cable, linked the red and white together and fitted to the positive terminal on the mini timer connector, the coax i linked together and connected that to the negative/ground side of connector, providing this is correct what else should i look out for?
Many thanks, Chris

That is the file I needed. However, you will need to enable dual spark and wheel decoding, then set it up for a 36-1 wheel. Dual spark settings are explained here, and let me know if you have any questions. Do you have the VR input wired to your crankshaft position sensor?

VR sensor is connected, using coax covered wire with coax to ground pin on sensor, No wheel decoder option in megatune for the msq i have, so in ignition options am i right in saying i set the wheel as 36 teeth, missing 1, skip 9, and delay i am not sure of, do i set single crank input or do i connect something to the cam sensor and then set as dual tach inputs. Is there no base msq for a wasted spark 4 pot that i can download and atleast get the car started? Then i would know whether the problem lies in the wiring or the msq
Chris.
