We are using the HEF4017BP IC.
You can use it to divide between 2 and 10 and you can even cascade several IC's to divide even more

See pic for a divide by 2 circuit.

That looks like it would work. I'd like to see how you have it connected, just to make sure I understand the usage correctly.
Also, if I had another conditioned VR signal from a second single-tooth crank wheel, could I connect that signal to the Master Reset line, and I could both divide by 2 or 3 and create a 'missing tooth' by making lines O1 to O9 go low when the MR was triggered by the single tooth wheel?
Edit: I looked at the drawing again, and it looks like you're connecting the output(O3) back to the MR, which makes sense after looking at the PDF online. Basically it counts to N, then the output goes high, which triggers the master reset, then when the input goes low, the output and the master reset go low, and it starts counting to three again?

Hi again, forgot to pay my internet bill...
Supergizmo wrote:Hi Guys !!
I´v manage to run my s2 aby engine with MS1/Extra code, uses my deafult
VR and hall sensors, some problems on the way but me and my buddys solved them, uses the LM1815 and 4017 to fix the signals from the VR sensor. Im not a pro Ms user but there are hopefully some questions i can help you with. Im goin to du a pcb layout soon of my extra cards so you can see how we manage to solve the problem of the 135teeth to 15 teeth conversion.
//Supergizmo !!
So you're running 5 cylinder COP ???
I guess this is only possible on MSnE ?? I would love to run MS2 for better accuracy an,d future developement.
And how do you configure fhe fifth ign. output?
I'm thinking of machinig a 5-tooth reluctor for the cam to use MS2 , but i would love to use the original sensor, specially for the hired installs, where MSnE would also reduce the cost.
Looks like I'm going to order 1 MS2 + 2 MSnE + 1 LC1.. anyone know if these parts are sent as car-parts or electronics?? car-parts are cheaper through customs...

Parts I got from Glenns Garage (to Norway) was handled as Carparts

Errm. MS1/Extra already does 6 spark outputs and trigger wheel decoding on many installs.

Right at the start of the topic I wrote this:
Maybe you didn't catch my drift. COP means coil on plug i.e. 5 spark outputs.

If You guys do'nt understand me.. I am SAD (with regret, not wanting to) that I wont use MS for my own AUDI 4000. And I will still be using MS for hired, low-cost installs. (wich most of them will be)
As I've said several times MSnE was not really an option, And I will do a 5cylinder (U)MS install when the code can run COP on a fast CPU.
Topic:
Some audi crank's has a second sensor with a single tooth (pin).
If you could use the divide by 2 circuit to count only the pin on the first revolution, you would have a cam signal with no slop at all.
just use the cam hall sensor to reset the div-by-2 circuit.

Why does your car need a faster CPU than the rest of us? This isn't Wintel... we make the code efficient enough to run on a small processor.
As far as I am aware, 5 & 6 cyl COP are working fine.
So why wasn't MS1/Extra an option?
Remember that UMS has no due date so you could be waiting a VERY long time.

PS. Yes I am biased because I wrote most of the spark code in MS1/Extra.
