Want to run COP for four coils (2cyl with two plugs per cylinder).

Thanks,

Hey jim - is this an air-cooled Ducati? Instead of running four coils, why not grab a pair of coils from a four cylinder bike that usually runs wasted spark. That way you can fire one coil per cylinder, and have each coil drive two spark plugs.
You'll have the two spark outputs for wasted spark, but not the four that would be needed to individually drive COPs. Wasted spark will be the way to go.

I still haven't gotten my final pricing from B&G on these but the Microsquirt website shows they're aiming to keep the price around $350 or a bit more if possible. That was an early quote so things may have changed a bit but Bruce and Al work hard to keep things affordable for sure....

I guess you could use one coil for the first plug in each head and the second coil for the other.

Results of the MicroSquirt testing so far are excellent! I have injectors and ignition channels driving ignition coils, they are on the bench for a weekend of pulsing at 2000 RPM. No resets, noise, etc. have come up yet.

Next step is to test the FP and Fidle drivers. The board uses the IPS022G from IR, which of course is now obsolete. Good thing that a ST VNS3N04D-E drops right in! I have a Ford fast idle valve and I am going to test the PWM and the flyback clamping of the driver, in particular power dissipation.

If things keep on going like this, I will be able to turn on getting a small run made up next week. It'll take a month to get the build processed thru the CM, along with getting the wires crimped for the Ampseal.

Were nearing the stretch!
