Maybe the wrong forum, not sure. I'm interested in Winscope, the free downloadable software that uses your PC as an O-scope. Is it worthwile?

Thanks

ive used it a couple of time, and its proved useful for rough diagnostics... for example to check if there is a signal, how big, and how quick, but nothing accurate. its good when you can't be bothered getting the CRO out, and all you wanna do is check the quality of your power output or something like that.

Cheers

PS - its free, so just try it lol

Not sure if we are talking the same on .....

But I looked at a couple and this is my pick, so far only used it on the bench with stimulator and I can see ringing on the ign pulse and can make some sence of it....

Try me again after I have my 36-1 wheel working....

If nothing else, a couple of diodes, like 15v zenners across the input to protect your sound card, no idea about what the max input, voltage wise to the sound card is ....

One of the local shopes sells an addon which I assume has overvoltage protection and a few other little things for $NZ28.

that one is way different to mine... I'll search for that one now lol.

And I don't really care about my sound card, its on my crappy laptop.. only used for running megatune, and the only reason megatune would make a noise it to show me an error, and thats probably something I don't wanna hear anyway.

Im pretty sure for the input 2.5V is the average for the line in, and something like a max of 5V?

I must say, I did run +12V into it, with the MIC volume turned down, and I couldn't smell anything :-D

..also, can you take a screenshot of your IGN?
Mine makes a funny shape.. and I dunno if that was scope accuracy, or just the way it is?

I got another program. Its called Visual Analyser, I got it from electronics lab. Anyway, this program is pretty good.,.. I can finally capture things, and there's all sorts of features, haven't really got into it yet.

Heres is what I captured of my ignition output.
its actually meant to be black and green, but win98 hasn't heard of JPEG, and 24bit bit map files are too big.
