Problem Starting Busa engine
Wonder if anyone can help !!
I have been using my megasquirt to provide the on boost fueling for my Megasuirt turbo for a while now and it has been working great. The Suzuki ECU has been driving the injectors in the TB's and the MEgasquirt the injectors in my plenum.
However the off boost fueling was not very good so I have decided to get Megasquirt to control both banks of injectors.
But I am having problems starting. The megasquirt seems 300rpm while cranking and the cranking light is lit in the real time display, but the pwm is 0. If I connect back up the suzuki ECU it fires first time.
I started it up on the suzuki ECU and connected the megasquirt to the second bank and i can control the fuel injected with these. I just can't get it to start.
I have included the MSQ and a log of me trying to start the car.
Any help would be great.
I am using Extra 24s9 with MEgatune version 2.25 beta.
Cheers

Now the solution is
1) Read the MegaManual.
2) Read the MegaManual.
3) Read the MegaManual. In the intrest of saving band width repeat steps 1 - 3 Even the Haltec guys send noobes to read our manual. It realy is that good
4) Install Extra 026h8 found at http://www.extraefi.co.uk under downloads or it will soon be posted in http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/
5) read everything tha applies to your install at http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/ 4 times
6) load the default ini that comes with 026h8 and then only change the things that you are shure that applied to your install like reqfuel...
Hope this helps. This realy will be the fastest way to get you running. Ereryone at the top of this game is on a mission to teach people to understand and install fuel injection not just tell them how to install a $4000 plugin kit.

A couple of things always catch people out on cranking. The first is that there is an option to only fire 1 bank when cranking. The other is that you need a lot more fuel than you think to start a car. So bung in a big priming pulse to get it fired up.
Putting the latest code on is a good idea before you start as it gives you the most stable and best feature set.

I noticed in one of my cells in the fuel map I set to 0 in the msq I posted. I had fixed this and it still did not fire.
I have my number of cylinders set to 2 as I am taking a tacking the tacho feed from the ECU and this gives the correct rpm. Should I run 2 injections per cycle because of this ?
I don't however seem to be getting any fuel at all let alone enough

You are assuming that I know very little about FI and have not already tried to sort the problem myself. I can assure you I have read the Megamanual quite a few times. I do understand how fuel injection works.
The reason I wanted to keep the same software in the megasquirt is that it makes it easy to go back to the piggy back system while I tune the standalone system.
I know you mean well and want people to learn rather than be spoon fed. I but it would have been more helpful to point out the problems you found as well as the RTFM stuff as well. Sometimes an extra pair of eyes can see things you cant !!!!
All the Best

No worries, I have done quite a bit of homework already. I do understand I don't bother replying to people on other forums if I don't think they have done enough themself.whittlebeast wrote:I could not find a copy of MT and an ini file for an MSQ that old. That version must be about 100 releases back. I don't keep ways to open the realy old stuff. When I did get your msq to oppen I was getting all of the starting settings coming up 0ms. Not being shure weather this was an error generated by me bringing up extreamly old software or a situation of mis-set MSQ settings I postep my original post.

The cranking pulse widths were not 0 ,but they were too small increasing them got me to the stage where it would run for a second. Its too cold in the garage to carry on now. Going to play with the ASE tommorrow. I was thrown off by the fact he log said 0ms PWM even though I had 0.1ms set in the table. I needed nearer 4ms !!!

what injectors are you using
the idle row of your VE map should be around 40 not 10
most cells above 100 kpa normally end up around 100
a high strung motor will never shift correct on old code if it feels ok on the bottom end
