how do I hold the injector?

Post by 65looter »

I am looking to do a rail-less system, but how can I hold the injector on the intake?
this is my intake:

From an answer to my previous post about rail-less
MSD does that clip

Is this what I need or is there something else?
Would anyone with a rail-less system has pictures to show me?

Thanks helping me, I am new at this EFI stuff

In addition to the clip, you need the pocket:

over which the big part of the clip goes.

Then you either one of these:

There is a pin that goes into the small hole you see in the pics above. There are 2 pins, on on each side, and the small hooks of the clip are hooked to those pins.

So you put the pockets into your manifold, put the injectors in the pockets then the top mount on the injector, hook the clip on the top mount, and push the clip around the pocket.

I don't know if that's clear without pictures but I hope it's understandable.

65looter,

You don't need the pocket, your manifold already has the injector bungs built-in.

But I'm not sure that the clips will work with the bungs in your manifold. The MSD pocket have this wider rim under which the clip goes. So, if you want to use the clips, you either replace the bungs you have or somehow put something on your current bungs to hold the clips. Or you choose another method of holding the injectors in.

Ah, I see what you're talking about, Jean.

The clip should slide down as far as the shoulder on the bungs you have. If it does not, You could always weld a washer on the top of the bungs you already have. Easier than drilling out the existing bungs and welding in new ones. (Or you could try to bend your own clip that's slightly longer with a slightly smaller radius on the lower portion)

If you can find steel washers the right size you could even epoxy them on with JB or a similar adhesive.
