I have recently installed MSII V3 with EDIS on a 4 cyl 16v Ford engine.
I have got the engine running and it is now time to start the process of tuning.
My thoughts are to tune the fuel map first and effectively "switch off" the timing map by setting all the bins to 10deg. The theory being that the timing will then not interfere with my fuel tuning efforts.
Once I have got the fueling somewhere close I will then "attack" the timing.
Is this a sensible way of going about things or is my thinking flawed?

It seems like it might be better to have a simple RPM based advance curve in your timing map. Find out what your stock timing is at full advance and at what RPM full advance comes on, and make the timing map match that. A totally flat timing map is going to make the car run pretty poorly at higher speeds.

I agree. I think its better to take a conservative guess at the timing curve, tune the AFR, then go back and fine tune spark.
