Hi people ..

ok i am now starting to panic a little as i just cant get my MS fine tunned

ok heres a breif description first.

Mk 2 escort rs2000 with a 2.0 ltr ford pinto engine with garret t3 turbo
also a few more mods but not important for what i need help for.

ok its a ms 2.2 with 024s extra code.

right.... YES it runs but not right.

i did have a narrow band lambda but thaught it wasnt working correctly as it was spitting out some weired readings, so i decided to go and upgrade to the wideband lc-1 setup.
GREAT that works ok .... i think... but i seem to get a slight different reading from the logworks softwarea compared to the megatune software...like.. lets say in MT its wavering at about 13.8 , it will be then showing about 14.4 ish in the logworks software,
and yes i have fitted the 470 ohm resistor from the output from the lc-1 to the MS

Has anyone got any ideas on this one.

So onto the next part.

When i am driving the car it seems to run ok , but when i give it some YES the power is there but i feel its just missing that something more.

also if i try and tune the fuel down in values so that the O2 is about 14.7 or there abouts the engine wont tick over nicly, like hunting and basicly not running smooth, and when i am driving to seems to hold back and then go and feel flat, and at this time the O2 is wavering from 15.6 to 13 up and down
But if i up the fuel in the constants to a value where the tickover is nice and smooth and nice to drive, then the reading i am getting in MT and the logworks is about 13.1 on tickover and when i an driving the car its sometimes down to 12 or lower, but it feels fine to drive. And a reflection of this is the coulour of the plugs i take them out and give them a clean, they are black and sooty,,, very sooty realy

i have attached my .msq file and also a datalog of when i drove around the block and give it some in my .xls file

I am panicing because i only have 2 month to book my track day at croft motor sports and i havent got it running properly, i am now at a stage where i dont mind paying someone to give me a hand and help sort this fine tunning art out
also i am prepared to travel up to 200 mile of my home town if anyone will be able to help me out as i live in the north east england and theres not many people running MS over here.

please if anyone can spot anything in my msq and xls file then plese help me out or if anyone has any ideas on what i can try then your help will be very welcome.

thanx

You need to make sure your AFR is what is says. Did you change the LM1's default setting to 0-5v 10-20 AFR? Did you calabrate your O2 sensor? Not sure how you do that in the extra code.......

Thanx bluetrepidation

can you give me a quick pointer in the right dirrection on a few settings in the lc-1 if you can plesae

Ok then.. i have 2 outputs in the lc-1 is analog 1 and 2

now then in analog 1 it is factory set to

1.099v = 14.08 AFR or 0.958 lambda
0.103v = 15.01 AFR or 1.021 lambda

and also analog output 2 is set to

0v = 7.35 AFR or 0.68 lambda
5v = 22.39 AFR or 1.361 lambda

i think i am using output 2 to my megasquirt so i have set this value to

0V = 10 AFR
5V = 20 AFR

have i done this correct ???

well thats that bit anyway, i now have the settings in the configurator to choose from.
There are 3 options i have and have listed them bellow

1)#unset innovate _1_2_linear "innovate sensor giving 1-2v 10-20:1 AFR"
2)#set innovate_0_5linear "innovate. plx 0-5v 10-20:1 AFR"
3)#unset innovate_lc-1_default "innovate lc-1 default, 0-5v = 0.5-1.5 lambda"

i did at first have number 3 set , but now i have number 2 set and i now only have about .2 difference from the logworks software and the MT software.

is there anything else i need to get correct here first before i start tunning

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if anyone can help me on this then please do as its getting me right down in the dumps.

YEAH YEAH YEAH i can all here you saying it will be all worth it in the long run , but getting there is a right pain in the butt.

also did any one have a look at my logs and what do you think..can you give me any advice on them.

thanx again

Correct.

You want to use option 2 now that you se up the LC-1.

Don't forget to run Tools; Calibrate AFR; Innovate LC-1 under MegaTune

thanx again m8..

thats one thing beleive it or not i dont thing i have done.

so i will give it a try.

but i recon my settings must be very close as tonight a had to travel to a friends down the A1 motorway for about 12 miles and at about 3500 rpm in 5th and about 5 in the vacume i was reading about 14.3 ish in megatune and about 14.5 in the logworks and when it was WOT full blast , like getting up to 5500 rpm at about 14 psi of boost my afr reading was now showing between 12.7 to about 13.2... i realy hope this is safe as it was going like a frigin rocket.

it was a bit of an adrenalin rush at one stage getting to about ??? miles / hour and all seemed to be well.

so it looks like my day at croft is that one step closer.

bluetrepindation if you wana know what my ??? miles / hour was and how the car felt like. then drop me a PM as i dont want to admit to doing more than 75 mph on the u.k. motorways...

hehehehehe.....

i think at this point i would like to say a thinkyou to anyone who has helped me sort a few things out here and there and i also need to say
YEEE HAAAAA i got my rev counter working with my edis4 setup for a ford escort MK2

But what i needed to do is to short out or bypass the load resistor up in the input side of the rev counter as it relyies on the kickback pulse driven from the -ve side of the coil that is about 70 ish volts

to by bypassing the load resistor it means that the CTO signal from the edis is good to drive the rev counter and it works a treat, and i must say its been a miss having to look at the laptop to see when its getting red lined.

thanx again people

cheers

i seem to be unable to do the following what you have said....if i can do this i think it may work but any chance you can give me a bit more info on how to calibrate it
Don't forget to run Tools; Calibrate AFR; Innovate LC-1 under MegaTune
i cant see calibrate AFR under tools ????

any help will be welcome
