selecting a good throttle body

Post by truckmike »

i went out and bought the gasket for the ford 3.8L throttle body, and i realized that throttle body was just too big for my application.
for my question, is there a 2 injector throttle body available for 4 cylinder engines? or would i be better off going with a 1 injector setup?

my setup:
1986 mazda b2000 2.0L engine, plan to convert to TBI, going to use MS1 on PCB v. 3, mega squirtnspark firmware, and EDIS.

If you are using a Throttle Body Injection system you do not need two injectors. You can use one injector as long as it is big enough.

If you are willing to use a 'preowned' throttle body, see what the alternatives are by walking around a salvage yard and looking at cars with engines that have the similar HP rating or displacement from the mid 1980's

One that comes to mind is the Ford throttle body from a 2.0 and 2.5L engine (Tempo and Taurus). The throttle body is the same but the injector is different for the two engines. I use this TBI on my car. See my web page below.

GM and others have similar solutions using different throttle bodies.

i've heard of some reliability problems involving early GM throttle bodies. which throttle bodies have been found to be reliable, and which ones are troublesome? (IE ford, jeep, chrysler, ect)
