High RPM starter motor

Post by the bubbler »

Hello,

The engine I am converting has a high RPM starter motor (direct drive 1200 RPM).

I'm concerned that this will affect the cranking and afterstart enrichments.

Has anyone had a similar problem, or can suggest a workaround.

Thanks

Andy

What code are you running?

MS1/Extra has a cranking feature (came from DualTable code) that will only let you crank once. You could set your cranking rpm to say 1300rpm and ensure you always rev the car beyond 1300 after crank. After 1second at the higher rpm it is prevented from dropping back into cranking mode - whatever the rpm.
Standard MS1 and MS2 code revert to cranking mode below the rpm threshold.

Ah really, I must have missed that.

That's sounds useful.

I am running MSNS-E, as I need mapped ignition too.

Please could you give me a clue as to how this is set-up, or point me to the right information?

thanks

Set the cranking rpm to just above your actual cranking speed and ensure that the engine always revs to beyond that rpm on start. After 1-2 seconds the cranking mode is disabled until stall or power off/on.
