2001 Yamaha Raptor 660 uS Install , ignition question

So far i've got everything else nailed down , power/main ground /sensor grounds /iat clt o2 tps Injector all setup and wired, got past the .ini mistake i made myself and got the microsquirt to stop cycling the Fuel pump.
anyways , I'm using the vr input so far and am getting errattic RPM readings , from 1150 to 12000 rpm while cranking . do i have to use a HEI module to use the vr sensor inside the motor to clean up to spikes and get a clean rpm reading.
I'm charging the battery now from cranking it to death. No fuel spray yet.
any help would be greatlt appreciated..
Jeremy.

I've looked at the diagram and it has 3 white wires and a red and a white w/green coming from the stator , there's 2 wires coming from a pickup assembly of some sort, those colors are red/white and green/white
when i trigger from those 2 i get variable rpm output from MT from 300 to 13k +.
do i have to use some kind of pullup voltage ?

I a not familiar with this setup, how many teeth on the crankwheel? And I assume this is a standard VR sensor, correct?
Lots of noise during cranking can be from noise from the starter motor back-filling the +12V supply, or a voltage drop on either the ground return or +12V.
Do this if you can - unhook the injectors and ignition outputs, then unhook the +12V wire, then power the MS from another power supply, like a +9V battery - hook the ground to the engine ground and the +9V from the battery to the +12V in on MS. With this you should have MegaTune running. Then crank and see if the erratic signaling is still there - this will help eliminate the vehicle power supply as the noise source...

I'm going to pull the cover off where the pick-up is located to see what kind of Ign setup in on the flywheel/stator/rotor assembly. I imagine it's a flying magnet setup, But how many teeth ? , that question will remain unknown until I pop the cover.
I'll post some pictures on photobucket for reference.

well , i took the cover off the magneto side of the motor , the pickup I am using for the crankshaft has a single 60deg tooth . how should i use this for input into the uS , am I going to have to Modify the flywheel to accept a 36-1 or equiv ? are there settings for a single tooth of a specific degrees ? Btw it's a one cylinder 5 valve 4cycle engine , with CDI ignition right now. can I use the CDI for Rpm ?

Some yamaha CDI's have a tacho output that produces a 12v wave that could be used to trigger the uS, but I assume you want to control the ignition via uS and not just fuel?
The 3 white wires are your high voltage wires which should go to the CDI.
The others should be your low voltage/charge circuit wires.
I also have a Yamaha, but I had to use an aftermarket programmable ignition because uS did not support my configuration. Lucky for me the aftermarket ignition had a 12v square wave tacho output, so I can reliably trigger the uS from there.

yeah , 3-white 2-grn/white 1-red/white 1-red
I'm triggering of the red/white and grn/white. but the tach is erattic . and I don't know how to use the pickup.
where'd you get that cdi that has a 12v square wave ?

You can also add a VCDI and hand controller to control your ignition curve.
His CDI's do not have an ignition curve in them.
which box ?

any specific box they sell that you'd reccomend ? I'm kinda in need of a 12v square wave here...Hell i'd settle for a 5v !
Thanks for the help so far !

You could email the guy. He is very helpful.
His name is Borut and email
info@zeeltronic.com
Just tell him about your application and he can probably recommend something.
