Hall Sensor Trouble

I am using a 2 wire hall sensor and I am trying to get the Microsquirt to read it for RPM. I have the power going to the sensor and the sensor ground connected to the OPTIN+ and the OPTIN- is connected to 12V battery. I cannot get any reading from the Microsquirt and was wondering what I can do to make this work. Any input is appreciated.
Thank You
Jason

To the best of my knowledge - and I invite correction from wiser heads - there is no such thing as a 2-wire Hall sensor. Hall sensors are 'powered' devices, and need Vcc on one wire, GND on another, and output on the third. This last may be +5v, +12v, GND, or whatever the sensor designers had in mind.
A 2-wire device is almost certainly a VR. By connecting Power to the sensor, and from there to the uS, you have completely overwhelmed the AC sensor output in DC bias.
Ummm... Why do you have +12v connected to the OPTOIN -ve? That is for coil -ve triggering...
Try connecting the 2 wires to VR+ and VR-, see what you get.
