need help wiring my µs serial cable. I've searched the manual and I see which 3 wires are gnd, rx, and tx on the µs controller but I do not see what they are on the supplied DB9 > 1/8" serial cable. Am I missing something? I would think something as basic as this would be clearly explained.

t95,

MicroSquirt controllers normally come with the serial cable fully assembled, so there's no need for people to wire or re-wire them. Just plug the mini-stereo connector into the supplied harness, and the DB9 connector into the computer (or serial-USB adapter).

However, if you want to make/modify a serial cable, the MicroSquirt cable is the same as the GPIO cable, and there's instructions for that in step #1 here: http://www.msgpio.com/manuals/mshift/gpconnect.htm. Just be aware that the ampseal pin assignments for Tx, Rx and GND may not be the same as a GPIO board.

Lance.

Thanks for the link. It all makes sense now. Somebody f'ed up. The package I received had the controller the ms controller an ampseal connector with a bunch of wires attached and the DB9 to mini-stereo serial cable. My harness is missing the connector for the serial cable. I thought it seemed a little odd that they wouldn't supply a means to just plug it in to a computer with out having to break out the soldering iron. I looked at the picture on the website and can see the female mini-stereo plug.

Sometimes we've seen the manufacturer ship them with the serial jack buried in the split loom, a couple inches from the AMPSEAL.

Thanks Matt, I was looking for it near the end of the split loom and found it as you predicted near the amp-seal end.
